- Keep the content current and interesting – people want the latest results, the latest news, and everyone loves seeing themselves in club photos
- Put the website URL prominently in all club Villager articles, your emails, your stationary – drive usage of the website
- Keep the calendar of events up to date
- Use the Membership Database to keep your email address list up to date.
- Have only one membership database and use it for all club purposes – don’t have multiple databases that all need to be maintained and synchronized separately. That is a guarantee of losing control and people not getting emails!
Playing Nicely in a Shared Webhost Environment
Because all of the club websites are sharing one domain and one web host, there must be a few rules and oversight provided by the Villages Webmasters Guild. These rules will be minimal but needed to make sure a bad tool or configuration in one club’s website does not impact the performance of all the other club’s websites. The Guild will identify which plugins and website customizations are allowed, which are required, and any expressly not allowed.
The Guild IT Committee must have administrator access at all times to all the websites using the VWG’s domain to be able to provide routine maintenance and emergency repairs when needed.
